Freedom Scoop Plate — Adaptive One-Handed Plate for Low Vision & Limited Motor Control

The Freedom Scoop Plate is an adaptive dining plate designed to help people with low vision, weak hand strength, or limited motor control eat with greater ease, independence, and dignity. The plate's gradually rising edge makes it possible to scoop food onto a fork or spoon using only one hand, gently guiding food onto the utensil without needing a second hand to steady or push it. This makes it an excellent one-handed eating plate for people with arthritis, tremors, Parkinson's, stroke recovery, or visual impairment.

Several additional features make this accessible plate ideal for independent dining:

  • No-slip suction base: The vacuum suction pad keeps the plate firmly anchored to the table, so it won't slide around for diners who can't hold the plate steady with their other hand. It's easy to reposition by lifting a corner, yet stays securely locked in place during meals. The suction base unscrews from the plate for simple, hassle-free cleaning.
  • Dual-height scoop design: The high side of the plate's rim measures 4¾ inches, giving people with limited motor control or hand tremors a stable wall to scoop against. The low side measures 1¾ inches, allowing easy visual and physical access to food. At 9 inches in diameter, the plate is sized for full meals without being unwieldy.
  • Extended rim for grip and spill control: The raised lip around the plate's edge acts as an added barrier against spills, while also giving people with disabilities a secure place to grip the plate when lifting or carrying it.
  • Easy care: The plate (without the Suction Pad Base) is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe on the top rack. The Suction Pad Base should not be microwaved or placed in the dishwasher; hand-wash only.
