Ramble Tag Metro is a guidance device that allows a sighted person to guide a visually impaired person in a manner that is both comfortable and contactless, allowing a little more freedom and independence than the traditional elbow of assistance. The Ramble Tag cuff wraps around the guide’s upper arm. A close fitting strap on the cuff gives the guided person a handhold for guiding, without having to physically hold or touch the sighted guide. This allows for close contact guiding, while not having to get too close. The strap allows the guided person to stay in close contact with the guide, while not having to physically touch the guide, affording a little more space and independence between the guide and the guided. Physical boundaries can be easily respected.
The Ramble Tag Metro is similar to the Ramble Tag Original, but with a tighter, flat loop which is better for highly congested areas where a large drop strap could get caught on something. The Ramble Tag Metro is an excellent guidance device for a person moving through congested urban areas and transit hubs because nothing hangs off the cuff, reducing the opportunity for it to catch on anything.
The Ramble Tag Metro comes in bright orange, to more easily distinguish it as a guidance aid. It also might be visible by a guided person with a limited amount of sight. It can be worn on either arm, but for the ease of putting on, it is available in 2 styles – with the handle on the right or the handle on the left. If the visually impaired walker is more likely to have a cane of a dog in in their right hand, then the guide would want to wear the cuff on their right arm, with the loop available to the guided person’s left hand. This is a LEFT hand ramble tag. The guide is on the left of the cane user. If the guide anticipates that more walkers will want the guide on the walker’s right side, then they should get the RIGHT hand Ramble Tag.
The Ramble Tag can be purchased either by sighted guides who know they will be in situations where they will frequently be assisting a visually impaired person, or they can be purchased by a visually impaired person who can hand it to a sighted guide when the individual is out and about.
