These ear plugs use a patent pending technology that replicated the natural response of the ear canal so that sound heard through these ear plugs is as clear as usual, just quieter. Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 12 dB, but actual clinical measurement of properly inserted ER-20s indicate that these ear plugs provide almost equal sound reduction (20 dB) at all frequencies.
